'Pathway to Victory' is finished. The trench for the foundation was excavated on 7/22/04.This page will remain as a reminder of the sacrifice and donation to it's vision. The first two pictures was taken by someone not familiar with the camera they were using. If you click on the pictures they get bigger.

The secound row of pics are of the block structure as it is being built. Howard Emswiller has been much help in the donation of his heavy equipment in the excavation of the project. Many thanks goes out to Jim Lenhart and his family and friends. Much money is being saved by him and those helping in the way of labor.

Here is a list of companies that have donated time and material toward this endeaver: Schor Architecs, Buckeye Ready Mix, Creative Masonry, Buckeye Mulch and Garden Center,Emswiller Farms, Five Seasons Landscaping Co., and Modlich Engravers in Columbus who did all the engraving on all of the bricks and the victory stone. Many thanks to them.

The face bricks were started on 9/4/04. The engraved bricks sold to date was placed on the inside of the monument. The wings were left unbricked to provide the opportunity for others to purchase a large brick in our second sale.

(9/18/04) The engraved bricks were taped to protect the lettering. They were placed on the inside of the structure and two of the columns were finished. The work was done by Jim Lenhart and his son Jimmy of Creative Masonry.

The Old Bell Rings Again !!!

Our 1st President, Dan McDonnell, did the steelwork and welding required to hang the old bell. It rings again !

(10-21-04) Thanks to Howard Fry for pouring and finishing the concrete steps and floor of the tower!

The roof was completed May 8, 2005. The walkway was put in and all that was left to do on the main structure was finish the walls and do some landscaping. The landscaping in the front of the tower was donated by Buckeye Mulch and Garden Center, and installed by Vice Pres. Tom Dunkle and Pres. Dan McDonnell. The target date for completion was the end of July, 2005. We cut off sales of the large brick just after the Alumni banquet, so we could complete the main structure.

(6/11/05) We were real close to finishing the Bell tower project thanks to the donation of not only landscaping material and bushes, but labor as well from Five Seasons Landscaping on Mink Road just below I-70. These people were GREAT! A crew of 8 jumped right in and donated their time and product for our cause. The upper 3 pics show them working on the job. The lower two pics are the Five Seasons crew and the other is from left to right President Dan McDonnell, Tom Snider and Andrea Slack (who were the ones who arranged everything and put up with the President), and then one of the owners Steve Woods who also got his hands dirty. The names of the rest of the workers are Brian Kern Elliott Walker Nick Utzinger Nick Cater and Mat Kaufman. Cudos to you all and thanks.

The Bell Tower was finished thanks to the talents of the Lenharts. Completed July 29th, about a year in the construction, the tower is complete ! This monument will stand for years in honor of those that suceed in all victories in the Licking Heights School system. We will continue to take orders for small bricks to add to the walkway.

The winners of a contest we held to design the tower and provide a poem for it's theme are as follows:
Jordan Meyer wrote the winning poem-'Pathway to Victory' which is provided below. We had a tie for the drawing of the proposed project and the winners are Lance Mitchell and Sean Blair. These students names are included in the project as contributors of it's vision. Congradulations to all.

PATHWAY TO VICTORY

Apathetic to loss, always strive for something better.
And if we go down, we all go down together.
The hornet has power, and everyone can tell
When we tread the path to victory, and ring the victory bell.
We will never give up, we wear our colors proud
And you may break a sweat when you hear the buzzing sound.
So make room for the swarm, and don’t say you weren’t told.
We fly our colors proud; we are the maroon and gold.
